The Washington species can survive from desert climates to frost of -5 °, and they live over 100 years, adapting to the changing climate, characteristic of northeastern Mexico.
Its growth depends on the care provided to it during the first years of life, on average one meter per year during its youth, with a maximum height of thirty meters.
