
Paula Cordero Pérez, DSc

The School of Medicine welcomes Dr. Paula Cordero Pérez as Deputy Director of Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Chemistry for the 2022–2025 term.
Dr. Paula Cordero earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Chemistry and graduated in 1991. She later pursued a Doctorate in Science with a specialization in Biomedical Chemistry, completing it with honors in 1999. Both degrees were obtained at the School of Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. In 1996–1998 she received an award for best doctoral performance.
She teaches at the School of Medicine, UANL in both the Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Chemistry and the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine programs. Her teaching covers subjects such as: Clinical Chemistry, Medical Hepatology, Diagnostics, Research Seminar, and Academic Residency. In the MCP program: Transplantation of Organs and Tissues. At the graduate level: Research Seminar I, II, III, and IV in the Master’s and Doctoral programs in Biomedical Chemistry, Methodology of Research, and Resource Management.
She is the author or co-author of 92 publications: 74 indexed, 18 in non-indexed journals, 22 book chapters, and one edited and peer-reviewed book: Clinical Chemistry. Principles, Techniques, and Correlations, 8th Edition. ISBN: 9788417370343.
She holds four patents registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) (two granted and two under review).
She has received multiple awards, with a total of 38 honors and recognitions for Research and Teaching.

She is a member of the consolidated academic body CA-302 Hepatophysiology. Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. Member of the CONACYT and RENIECYT Pharmaceutical Network. Member of the Health Sciences Network of CONACYT. Member of various committees: Curriculum, Self-evaluation, Clinical Chemistry Academic Committee, and Scientific Committee of the Internal Medicine Department at the University Hospital.
She collaborates internationally on the ECHO Project (New Mexico, ECHO University of New Mexico, and Complutense University of Madrid School of Medicine), as well as nationally with the Department of Traditional and Intercultural Medicine at the Mexican Ministry of Health.
She is currently the Sanitary Officer and Coordinator of the Liver Laboratory Unit at the University Hospital “Dr. José Eleuterio González”. She holds the PRODEP Profile distinction and is a Level II National System Researchers (SNI).

Jorge Martín Llaca Díaz, EdD
Academic Secretary of Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Chemistry
Dr. Jorge Martín Llaca Díaz earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Chemistry in 1983. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the School of Public Health and Nutrition at the UANL, where he graduated with highest honors in 2002, ranking first in his class. He obtained his Doctorate in Education in 2022 from the University of Baja California.
He is the Head of the Clinical Pathology Department with 39 years of professional experience. Since 2010, he has served as the Academic Secretary of Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Chemistry and is a member of the Academic Committee for Clinical Chemistry Studies of the School of Medicine, as well as of the Governing Board. He has participated in the Curriculum Redesign and Self-evaluation Committees. He served as the institutional representative to the Mexican Association of Schools and Faculties of Chemistry (AMQF) from 2016 to 2023, representing UANL before the General Council of the Technical Committee of EGEL-D+QUIM.
He contributes as a member of the Infection Committee, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and the Bioethics Committee, and serves on the Committees for Safety, Hygiene, Environment, and Civil Protection. He is also a member of the Subcommittee on Influenza and a liaison with the coronavirus team at the University Hospital “Dr. José Eleuterio González” of the UANL.
He has been the advisor of the student research group focused on blood donation, QUILUD, of the Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Chemistry, since 2010.
