Luis Adrián Rendón Pérez, MD;

La Facultad de Medicina le da la bienvenida al Dr. med. Luis Adrián Rendón Pérez como Subdirector de Pregrado para el periodo 2022 – 2025.

Dr. Adrián Rendón graduated as a Surgeon and Midwife from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) in 1985. He specialized in Internal Medicine and later in Pneumology and Critical Medicine at the University Hospital “Dr. José Eleuterio González”, UANL.

He spent a year at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he received training in the field of tuberculosis. Upon his return to Monterrey, he was appointed professor of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Pneumology Service of the School of Medicine and the University Hospital, UANL, where he has been teaching for more than 30 years.

He is founder and head of the Center for Research, Prevention and Treatment of Respiratory Infections (CIPTIR), a center of excellence pioneer in developing and applying new strategies to combat tuberculosis. He has received multiple awards: “Academic Merit” for obtaining the 1st place of generation from 1979 to 1985, “Best Resident” in the specialty of Internal Medicine and “Best Resident” in the subspecialty of Pneumology and Critical Medicine.

He received his M.D. Summa Cum Laude and is a National Researcher of the SNI level III. Currently, he is a consultant of the National Tuberculosis Program, and member of the Regional Green Light Committee of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), as well as of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico.

He served as President 2019 - 2021 of the Mexican Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SMNyCT), and was appointed President Elect 2024 - 2026 of the Latin American Thoracic Association (ALAT). Dr. Rendón takes great pride in his role as a mentor to young trainees who have gone on to become renowned physicians and who have succeeded as independent investigators.
