While COVID-19 is thought to primarily affect the lungs, it can also damage other human organs such as the heart, kidneys, and brain. Some health complications that persist after the disease are, among others, the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cardiac complications, damage to the heart muscle.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chronic renal deterioration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consequences of thromboembolic events such as e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pulmonary embolisms, heart attacks and strokes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guillain-Barr\u00e9 syndrome (rare).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although rare, some people, mostly children, have <strong>multisystem inflammatory syndrome<\/strong> (MIS) during or immediately after COVID-19 infection.
