Historical Documentary Archive

Discover one of the few university archives of our Maximum House of Studies

On the instructions of the Rector Lic. Raúl Rangel Frías, in 1951, he asked all university departments for information about their libraries and archives; months later, the Faculty of Medicine declared to have texts and documents dating from 1870.

The documents were protected for a long time in various spaces of the faculty, without being classified or available for consultation. Fortunately in 1990 they began to be organized as part of the work carried out by the group of historians.

Currently, the collection is kept in 300 polypropylene boxes and there is a catalog of all the information that covers a period from 1825 to 1980. It is one of the few university archives that our Maximum House of Studies has.

In 2012, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and the Group of Researchers on the Northeast of Mexico and Texas, published the book "The Historical Archives of Nuevo León", dealing in one of its chapters about the Historical Archive of the Faculty of Medicine.

In 2016, the Northeast Association of Archives was created, an autonomous body that integrates the public and private historical archives of the region, integrating the Museum Hall that same year. In 2017, the Faculty of Medicine hosted the last Plenary Assembly of the year.
