Dr. José Eleuterio González used several media to spread his prodigious scientific and humanistic work, books being the most tangible and efficient to cover the reading needs of the students of the Civil College, the School of Medicine (1859) and the public. usually.

In fact, his personal library, which exceeded a thousand volumes, was frequented by his disciples to consult various topics, mainly medical sciences.

He not only worried about obtaining books and magazines of his time, but also undertook the laborious task of compiling readings, researching topics in History and Medicine, writing speeches to encourage young people and articles on national anniversaries. In such a way that he came to publish more than 20 books, mainly on regional history and medical sciences, and various pamphlets containing his speeches that he gave in his capacity as director of the Civil College and the School of Medicine and as governor of the State.
