Beginning of the “Cabello por Sonrisas” Campaign by GECCaM
The event consists of encouraging people to be hair donors for the creation of wigs for women with cancer
On the morning of this Monday, October 24, 2022, within the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the "Cabello por Sonrisas" campaign carried out by the Student Group Against Breast Cancer (GECCaM) was inaugurated. This campaign aims to encourage people to donate hair to make wigs for people diagnosed with cancer, such as breast cancer, who have undergone chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
The following authorities accompanied us at the opening ceremony:
- Rodrigo Enrique Elizondo Omaña, DSc; Vice-Principal of Undergraduate Studies of the Bachelor of Medical Surgeon-Obstetrician
- Guillermo Jacobo Baca, DM; Secretary of Student-Affairs of the School of Medicine
- Dr. Enrique Alberto Butcher López; Coordinator of Student Groups of Work and Research in Medicine
- Raquel Garza Guajardo, DM; Professor of the Pathological Anatomy and Cytopathology Service and Advisor of the GECCaM
It should be noted that the donation is aimed at the general public and the student community that has a hair length of 30 centimeters to donate. The pieces will be delivered to the "Pelones Felices" association who are in charge of the composure of the wigs.
