State Congress on Donation and Transplantation at the School of Medicine

The event brought together heads of different international and national medical programs and centers that focus on human organ donation

On Friday, September 23, 2022, in Auditorium 6 of the School of Medicine, was inaugurated the State Congress of Donation and Transplantation of Nuevo León. This event, which continued on Saturday, September 24, was made up of five informative sections: Coordination and Donation, Lung and Heart, Extracorporeal Organic Perfusion, Liver Transplantation and, finally, Kidney Transplantation. The foregoing was coordinated by the Organ and Tissue Transplants Service.

This congress brought together specialists, connoisseurs and coordinators of the different programs, societies, medical centers and divisions of international, national and local stature that focus on the donation, reception, operation and management of human parts that have been donated to save other lives, medicine and research.

The State Congress on Donation and Transplantation was inaugurated by Edelmiro Pérez Rodríguez, DM; Principal of the School of Medicine and University Hospital “Dr. José Eleuterio González", with undergraduate, graduate, nursing students and special guests.


As part of the commemoration of the National Day of Donation and Transplantation of Organs and Tissues, was presented the Body Donation Program for Teaching and Research: “Vidas que Dejan Huella”; In our School of Medicine, this program has existed since 2018, being the first in the State of Nuevo León.

It arises with the purpose of generating awareness, participation and information about the relevance of this fact.

What is the Body Donation Program for Teaching and Research?

It is a program promoted and developed by the Human Anatomy Department of the School of Medicine of the UANL, in which the body can be donated to teaching and research for the benefit of the Mexican population, under the guidelines established in the Law and the support of the School of Medicine of the UANL.

What is the purpose of the program?

Strengthen disciplines such as medicine and other sciences through teaching and innovation for the improvement of clinical and surgical procedures as well as conducting research in the Mexican population.

Why is this program important?

It helps to train doctors and specialists so that they develop skills, abilities and attitudes in the practice of medicine. In addition to contributing to the strengthening of research for the benefit of our society, ensuring at all times the dignified treatment of the body.
