Rubik's Heart, Kevin's winning sculpture at the Visual Arts Competition

Once again, a student from the School of Medicine is among the three winners of a university cultural contest

It was last August when a recognition was given to all the winners participating in the 2019 Visual Arts Contest held by the UANL through the Ministry of Extension and Culture and its Directorate of Cultural Development.

A total of 210 works participated in said contest: 11 sculptures, 78 paintings, 27 drawings and 94 photographs.

Rubik's Heart, made by Kevin Arias

Surgeon and Obstetrician student, Kevin Arias, won third place in the presentation of his sculpture “Rubik's Heart”.

“I did it when I was between the first and second semesters, it is an anatomical heart and I did it because I was studying anatomy and I quite liked the physiology of the heart and at that time, since I used to collect rubik's cubes, well, it gave me the idea of wanting to make a modification, that it was a normal cube but that it had the shape of a heart; I got a bucket, cut it, sanded it, epoxy painted it, detailed it, shaped it, and painted it,” explained Kevin.
