COVID-19: Use of face masks

Using the face mask correctly is an act of social responsibility and prevention

The use of face masks or masks is currently recommended to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The masks must be made of fabric. Remember that, if you are not a health personnel and you do not see patients, it is not necessary to use surgical or N95 type masks. Currently, there is still a high demand for this type of face mask and should be reserved for those who risk their lives every day!

Wearing a mask is not a substitute for other measures such as practicing a healthy distance or washing your hands frequently. Using it is an act of solidarity towards society and that, even if you feel healthy, you could infect other people if you are a patient with asymptomatic or presymptomatic coronavirus.

How is a mask used correctly?

  • The mask must cover your nose, mouth and chin and must conform to the contour of your face so as not to leave free spaces where respiratory droplets can enter.
  • It is important that when you carry it, you never touch it from the front or from the back.
  • If you are taking it off, always wash your hands before handling it.
  • When you remove it, hold it by the laces behind your ears or head.
  • Store it in a clean, reusable plastic bag if it's clean and dry and you plan to reuse it.
  • When you go to put it back, take it only by the laces
  • The mask is washed once a day using soap or detergent and hot water.
  • Always wash your hands after taking it off.

Is prohibited:

  • Cover only the mouth and leave the nose uncovered.
  • Share it with other people.
  • Take it off when you speak, cough, or sneeze.
  • Use a damaged, wet or dirty one.
